Elizabethtown College is seeking an Assistant Professor of Communications. This is a tenure track, nine-month position beginning in August 2012. Doctorate in Communications or related area expected, but ABDs will be considered. Those with previous college teaching and professional experience are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will also have an established research agenda. The college follows the Teacher-Scholar model and course workload is three 4-credit courses per semester; maximum class size is 35 students. Internal funds and grants are available for scholarship and professional development.
Primary teaching responsibility will be in the area of communications law and ethics. Secondary areas of interest might include: research methods, international communication, critical studies, news writing, public speaking, multi-media story telling, new media, and/or audio and video production. Please note that the Department delivers a generalist curriculum and faculty members are expected to be able to teach in multiple areas. The Department seeks candidates with dynamic teaching skills who are able to incorporate experiential and active learning pedagogies into their teaching. Faculty members are also expected to advise students and provide service to the college.
