Job Summary 
The Dean of Online Learning has oversight of the online academic program and reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Dean works collaboratively with the administration, residential and online faculty, and student support staff to foster and sustain a culture that practices, values, and rewards academic excellence. The Dean manages a growing staff of faculty and course designers.

Minimum Requirements 
This position requires an accredited Master's degree, but a Ph.D is preferred in a related academic field such as Curriculum Development, Online Education Administration, or Instructional Technology. The successful candidate will have experience in managing budgets and human resources as well as college teaching experience.

Additional Skills and Preferred Experiences 
The Dean of Online Education must have a strong grasp of best practices and research in online education. A background in online course development and instructional design in both proprietary and non-profit institutions is preferred. The Dean will need to provide leadership within the college governance system to plan, develop and assess the online program. The position also requires an understanding of the college's tradition in the liberal arts and professional programs along with excellent communication skills in order to develop effective relationships with a diverse range of internal and external constituencies.
