Information Technology Services (ITS) via the University of Colorado at Boulder invites applications for a professional-exempt, full-time Associate Director of Academic Technology Consulting. This position is in the Academic Technology unit of ITS. It directs academic technology consultants and academic media professionals. This position coordinates consulting activities with academic deans and directors. It also represents the needs of faculty members within ITS project and service meetings.
This position manages, coordinates, and leads the Academic Technology Consulting (ATC) and Academic Media Services (AMS) units. This position supervises fourteen staff members across those units. This position works closely with deans and directors to coordinate work assignments and work priorities for ATCs. It works within ITS to ensure that project, support, and service teams have adequate input on the needs of faculty for ITS services. This position is expected to collaborate with other units on campus that provide support for teaching and learning with technology. It is also expected to act as a leader in the areas described by the Technology, Pedagogy, and Content Knowledge (TPCK) model (Mishra and Koehler, 2006).
Skills / Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- A Master's degree and at least two years of teaching experience at a university that offers doctoral programs.
- One year of experience managing a work unit.
- Two years of experience using or supporting the use of academic software and hardware, such as learning management systems, digital media, web page development, and smart classroom tools.
- One year of experience consulting with faculty in a program similar to the Academic Technology Consultant program.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate coordination and collaboration in an organizational setting.
- Demonstrated understanding of the intersection of teaching, curriculum, and technology.
Required Competencies:
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Ability to successfully navigate political environments
- Humanistic management style as defined by a supportive, encouraging style that allows for the flourishing of creativity and new ideas while challenging the whole person
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or substantial progress toward the Ph.D.
- Familiarity with the TPCK model (Mishra and Koehler, 2006), which includes understanding academic technologies, teaching methods (pedagogy), and how content areas in universities approach teaching with technologies

Salary Range: $80,000 - $95,000 per year
