 Job Title: Sr. Program Associate

American Association for the Advancement of Science

The American Association for the Advancement of Science is seeking an experienced Senior Program Associate to play a key role in supporting the Research Competitiveness Program. This position will hold a critical role in design and execution of proposal review competitions. The AAAS Research Competitiveness Program (RCP) draws upon the resources of the science and engineering community to assist universities, government agencies, research consortia, and other institutions in planning, reviewing or evaluating programs and initiatives in research, development, and innovation. 

The position includes, but is not limited to, the following duties: 

• Analyze proposals for scientific content 
• Identify and recruit appropriate reviewers for proposal competitions, then manage their work 
• Aid in the design of competitions and review materials 
• Represent AAAS and the program to universities and state agencies 

The minimum qualifications to be competitive and considered for the position are: 

• Extensive university or college level training leading to a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (experience with scientific research a must). Ph.D preferred 
• Five to ten years of experience in progressively responsible roles in a related position 
• Proven proficiency in handling multiple priorities and projects, often under tight deadlines 
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills 
• Ability to communicate complex ideas to public, professional, and diverse audiences 
• Advanced research, writing, and editing skills 
• Strong computer skills, particularly in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
