Communication/Journalism: University of Hawaii, College of Social Sciences, jointly appointed in Communication and Journalism, permanent, full-time, 9-month, tenure-track appointment, to begin August 1, 2011, subject to position clearance and availability of funds. Duties: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in multimedia, digital media and aesthetics. Supervise communication M.A. and interdisciplinary communication and information sciences Ph.D. students; share in academic advising of undergraduate students; conduct and direct research, pursue scholarly and creative activities in areas of expertise; publish scholarly-creative works in appropriate professional and scholarly media; and perform university and professional service. Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree (completed prior to appointment) in Communication, Journalism, or related field from an accredited college, university or foreign equivalent. Demonstrated research/creative work and instructional abilities in multimedia production, digital media/Web programming. Publication in refereed journals or public exhibit of creative activities. Desirable Qualifications: Professional video and multimedia production experience. Experience developing initiatives for social networking and building Web communities. A commitment to excellent innovative teaching and to work collaboratively across disciplines. Salary Range: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
