ssistant Professor of Education
The Education Department at Brown University invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Education beginning July 1, 2011. The successful candidate will be one whose work examines the politics, organization, political economy, and/or governance of education. Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of their demonstrated potential for excellence in scholarly research and teaching.

Candidates must hold an earned doctorate by the job start date of July 1, 2011. The Department is particularly interested in candidates who analyze policy issues facing urban districts and state systems. One responsibility of this faculty member will be to teach a core graduate-level course on 'policy analysis and program evaluation' in Brown's Urban Education Policy program. The dual goals of this course are to make students critical consumers of policy relevant research that addresses casual questions and to provide them with the skills that would allow them to conduct their own research. The successful candidate will also teach undergraduate courses that will be part of Brown's liberal arts education curriculum.

Deadline for receipt of applications to receive full consideration is December 1, 2010. Please send a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, two samples of scholarly work, and three letters of reference to:John Tyler, Search Committee Chair, Education Department, Brown University, Box 1938, Providence, RI 02912. Brown University is an EEO/Affirmative Action Employer. Minorities and women are encouraged to apply. For information about the Department and the UEP program, access our Web page at: www.brown.edu/education.
