Particular areas of interest include globalization, non-Western and/or indigenous media, transnational production and reception, especially as they relate to new and emerging media.
We are seeking a candidate with a record of teaching excellence and capacity for scholarly productivity. Willingness to integrate digital and multimedia production into curricula is preferred.
Responsibilities include: full-time undergraduate teaching assignment (2/3), including core media and communication studies courses at all levels; scholarship and professional activity; student advising; and service to the Program, College, and University communities.
Please send letter of application, writing or publication samples, sample syllabi, and c.v., and have three letters of reference sent to: Jason Loviglio at Hamlin at umbc.edu. Applications by e-mail preferred but hard copies addressed to Professor Loviglio will be accepted as well at Media & Communication Studies, ACIV-A wing 214, UMBC, Baltimore, MD 21250. UMBC is especially proud of the diversity of its student body and we seek to attract an equally diverse applicant pool for this position. We have a strong commitment to increasing faculty diversity.
Recently U.S News and World Report named UMBC #1 among "up-and-coming" national universities and the #1 public national university in undergraduate teaching. We are a growing interdisciplinary program that has a broad, liberal arts focus. Our program emphasizes critical media studies, intercultural communication, new media and applied communication.
