Applications are being invited for a tenure-stream position in political theory at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing January 1, 2011, or when the position is filled. The successful candidate will have a completed PhD and be able to teach courses in the history of political theory, modern political philosophy and global social justice. The UW Department of Political Science is home to several rapidly expanding graduate programs in political science, global governance and public service. The ideal candidate will play a key role in departmental graduate expansion, particularly in the area of global social justice. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an active, externally-funded research program and to collaborate in the academic life of the department. Excellence in teaching is also expected and the candidate will supply a teaching dossier, including teaching philosophy, peer and/or student evaluations, and course syllabi. The completed application must contain all of the following information: a letter of application describing qualifications and the proposed research program; curriculum vitae; teaching dossier; three letters of reference, and a sample of academic writing. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
