The Department of Culture & Media at Eugene Lang College, the New School for Liberal Arts, is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor with a terminal degree in cultural studies, media studies, comparative literature, or allied discipline. This position is a renewable term appointment. Candidates must have a demonstrated facility in ethnographic, textual, theoretical, or historical methodologies. Desired areas of study include (1) race and ethnicity, transnationalism (2) gender and sexuality, (3) subcultures and/or popular culture. Our department is a unique undergraduate-only inter-disciplinary program, combining critical theory, cultural studies, media studies, film theory, and video production for politically-engaged liberal arts students in the heart of New York City. We are looking for an emerging scholar to help us strengthen the cultural studies side of the program, with a particular focus on "media," broadly conceived.
