The Department of Communication at the University of Colorado Denver (UCD) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Communication and Media Studies, at the assistant professor level, beginning in August, 2011.  

UCD is an urban campus that serves a diverse student body, values community engagement, and seeks interdisciplinary scholars and world-class teachers. The Communication Department offers B.A. and M.A. degrees and serves 450 majors; professors teach on a 2/2 load and perform research consistent with peer urban research universities.The successful candidate will teach the department's required Introduction to Media Studies, a large lecture-format first-year course, and other upper-division electives such as Media Studies and Society, New Media Technologies, Communication and Film, Media and Social Justice, and/or others. 

Minimum requirements for the position include a Ph.D. in communication; evidence of superior teaching at the undergraduate level and preferably at the graduate level; a track record of leadership in departmental, campus, and disciplinary service capacities; and a proven history of producing significant scholarship.
