Drake University is pleased to announce a faculty position in our interdisciplinary Law, Politics, and Society Program.  This position focuses on intersections of science, technology, knowledge and the law.  We seek an assistant professor to offer courses contributing to the program in ways that complement the university-wide mission of providing a liberal arts education with relevance to pre-professional training. Area of focus is open – we’re interested in applications from legal studies scholars dealing with any of the following, and related, issues: psychology as it pertains to witnesses, juries, and litigants; ethical and legal uses of web-based and computer technology; ethical responses to legal and scientific challenges faced in the fields of pharmacy, biology, and agriculture; a specialist in traditional forms of knowing, or issues of copyright and patent; environmental science and policy; or a specialist in technical and scientific aspects of terrorism and global security.  Drake values interdisciplinary research and teaching, and would welcome a candidate who can contribute to other programs on campus.  Position is 3/3 load, all undergraduate, including both core and elective LPS-designated courses, as well as contributions to our First Year Seminar and Honor’s programs. Ph.D. in relevant area highly preferred (JDs and ABDs considered).  Position open until filled; for full consideration, submit application by November 1st.
