Communication: The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington seeks a full-time, 9-month academic year, tenure-track or professional (clinical) faculty member at the assistant professor rank. Appointment begins August 15, 2011. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate classes that involve hands-on training in digital media content creation across multiple media platforms, including broadcast, print and Internet. Areas of expertise or research emphasis may include digital media, journalism, social media, advertising, public relations, marketing, and/or visual communication; tenure-track candidates may be asked to teach graduate level courses. The successful candidate may be responsible for advising student multimedia projects and productions in the College's PC labs and broadcast production facilities. All applicants also will be expected to advise undergraduate and/or graduate students and serve as a liaison with the professional community. Qualifications: Tenure-track Assistant Professor candidates will have earned a Ph.D. or be ABD for the Ph.D. (nearing completion of the dissertation) in communication or a related area before the date of hire, have evidence of ability to teach classes that involved hands-on training in digital media content creation as it applies to one of the following areas: journalism, social media, advertising, public relations, marketing, and/or visual communication, and have evidence of ability to develop a research program consistent with one or more of the Murrow College's graduate areas of emphasis. Successful candidates should have significant professional experience with digital media in one or more of the following areas: journalism, social media, advertising, public relations, marketing, and/or visual communication. They should demonstrate ability to interact with professional community and other outside constituents as appropriate. Professional (clinical) candidates will have earned a Bachelor's degree before the date of hire and have evidence of ability to teach classes that involve hands-on training in digital media content creation as it applies to one or more of the following areas: journalism, social media, advertising, public relations, marketing, and/or visual communication. Successful candidates should have a minimum of five years professional experience with digital media in one or more of the following areas: journalism, social media, advertising, public relations, marketing, and/or visual communication. They should demonstrate ability to interact with professional community and other outside constituents as appropriate. Previous teaching experience is preferred but not required. For both tenure-track and clinical candidates, preference will be given to candidates committed to Edward R. Murrow's legacy of integrity, innovation and courage, and who demonstrate one or more of the following: *A focus on digital media *Professional focus across multiple media platforms *A professional or research focus in international issues pertaining to the candidate's area of emphasis *A record of success or demonstrated potential in securing extramural funding.jeremy hunsinger
