The University of Windsor invites applications for a full-time Ancillary Academic Staff position at the rank of Learning Specialist (AAS-LS) in the Centre for Teaching and Learning, commencing May 1, 2010. This is a probationary position, within the Windsor University Faculty Association, leading to permanence. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

The Centre for Teaching and Learning is a vibrant centre, with a growing national and international reputation and a mandate to support teaching and learning at the University of Windsor. For further details, visit our website at http://www.uwindsor.ca/ctl.

The AAS-LS is part of a team that collaborates with academic departments, support units and committees as well as individual faculty members, teaching assistants and other instructors across the University of Windsor. The goal is to support effective and evidence-based teaching and learning, promote effective curriculum and program reform, and introduce appropriate innovations in teaching and learning. This work will take a variety of forms, focused in the areas of teaching, service, and research. 

The successful candidate for this position will have these general responsibilities:

1) teaching: within the University Teaching Certificate Program and the Graduate Teaching
....Development Program; 
2) pedagogical service; and
3) research: promote the growth of a climate of scholarly inquiry regarding teaching and 
....learning.

The successful candidate for this position will demonstrate these essential qualifications:
	• A graduate degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D. strongly preferred)
	• Successful teaching experience at the university level, both undergraduate and graduate
	• A demonstrated interest in teaching and learning development
	• Strong knowledge of pedagogy and effective practices
	• Familiarity with teaching and learning literature
	• Excellent oral and written skills in English
	• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with and consult with students, faculty and staff from a variety of backgrounds in a professional and collaborative manner
	• Excellent organizational skills
	• Familiarity with the academic mission of the university, and the goals of undergraduate and graduate education
	• Demonstrated leadership ability
	• Ability to set priorities and work independently and as part of a team

	• a detailed and current curriculum vitae;
	• a teaching dossier or evidence of teaching and advising effectiveness that may include sample course syllabi/outlines;
	• three current letters of reference forwarded directly by the referees to the Chair.
