TENURE-TRACK POSITION
Assistant Professor, New Media Criticism and History

The Faculty of Liberal Studies invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in New Media Criticism and History. Candidates are expected to have a research program and experience teaching in the area of New Media History and Theory/Criticism. Professional production experience and academic research in the areas of multi-media art & design (e.g. film, video, digital media, sound) and/or social media would be an asset. 

This position will start July 1, 2011, subject to budgetary approval.
The successful candidate will:
• have a proven record of teaching and an active role in program and/or curriculum development at the post-secondary level
• be expected to teach at all undergraduate levels as well as participate in graduate programs (teaching/supervising)
• be expected to make significant contributions to research and scholarship in her/his field
• provide service to the Faculty and university-wide governance system as well as service activities and outreach initiatives that contribute to the academic life and profile of the university
• have a demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity, and proven ability to work effectively and collegially with a diverse population
Candidates are expected to have a completed PhD, or degree equivalent, in Media Studies or a related field; a strong record of research, scholarship and publication and/or exemplary professional experience in media production or media arts; evidence of positive post-secondary teaching experience; and an aptitude for innovative curriculum development in a degree-granting art and design institution.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
