Position Summary
The School of Information Resources and Library Science seeks to hire a tenure track professor at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates must demonstrate potential for teaching and service as well as potential to conduct ground-breaking collaborative and individual research and publishing. We are particularly interested in two focus areas. The first is community informatics, with research, teaching and development of new information services tailored to individual communities. There is an opportunity to build on the long standing Knowledge River program at SIRLS. The second focus area we seek is in the field of information storage and retrieval, particularly digital archives. Knowledge of diversity issues is an essential consideration in hiring faculty for this position.
Additional Minimum Qualifications
Earned PhD. in Library and Information Science or relevant field. Demonstrated research and publication record or potential. Demonstrated technology expertise. Documented evidence of teaching ability.
Preferred Qualifications
Commitment to the education of library and information professionals in the 21st Century. Ability to teach technology oriented courses. Ability to teach introductory courses in one or more of the core or distribution areas. Ability to recruit and supervise doctoral students.
