Assistant Professor position in New Media and Digital Technologies
School of Journalism and Mass Communication
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill is searching for an outstanding person to join its
faculty as an assistant professor in the research tenure track. The selected
candidate will contribute to the M.A. in Technology and Communication, a new
online degree program to be launched in Fall 2011. The selected candidate
will teach one or two courses in the MATC
program each year as well as courses in other areas of the School.

DUTIES:

Teach two courses a semester. One or two courses a year will be taught
online. Perform other customary duties of a faculty member: research and
scholarly activities, advising and service.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:

Successful applicants must have a Ph.D. An established research agenda and
teaching experience are preferred in the emerging areas of new media and
digital technologies. Applicants for the position should be able to teach
"Research Methods and Applications" as well as at least one other course in
the MATC curriculum (http://jomc.unc.edu/onlinemasters). Applicants should
have experience teaching and be capable of supervising graduate students'
theses and final projects.
