Assistant Professor in Global Studies
The Department of History and Area Studies invites applications for an assistant professorship in global studies. The position is tenable from December 1, 2010 and open for applicants who demonstrate a scholarly production equivalent to the PhD level.
We are interested in applicants with a strong research profile in global studies. We are particularly looking for candidates with a background in sociology, anthropology, cultural studies or area studies.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and teaching the course in international project management within our programme in International Studies, but will also be expected to teach courses on globalization and global society, including relevant social and cultural theory. We therefore expect candidates to have a research orientation covering one or more of these areas.
Prior experiences with teaching project management as well as with teaching an international classroom are advantageous.
International Studies at Aarhus University is a multi-disciplinary, English-taught Master's Degree. In the last years it has grown to be one of the largest master's programme within the Faculty of the Humanities. It attracts students globally. The appointee will join a dynamic programme and collaborate with international colleagues and students in an interdisciplinary environment. The successful candidate is expected to strengthen the global studies profile of the Department of History and Area Studies through international research as well as through actively engaging in the internationalization of the programme by establishing relations to international universities and organisations.
