As part of a cluster hire that involves similar hires in the  
Departments of
English and Communication Studies, and the School of Information, the
Program in American Culture (AC) at the University of Michigan invites
applications for a tenure-track university-year assistant  
professorship in
“Digital Environments” beginning September 1, 2010.

Scholars examining all aspects of digital media are encouraged to  
apply. AC
is interested in how new technologies and information cultures intersect
with questions of migration, immigration, class, community, identity,
political democracy, social networking, race, gender, projections of
American power, and/or citizenship. Ph.D. required prior to employment.

Candidates should send a letter of application and a placement dossier
consisting of a curriculum vitae, writing sample, and at least three  
letters
of recommendation in addition to a statement of teaching philosophy and
experience, evidence of teaching excellence, and a statement of  
current and
future research plans. Applications should be addressed to Chair,
