The Department of Sociology and Anthropology invites applications for
a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to
commence July 1, 2008. We seek a Sociologist whose primary expertise
lies in the area of Political Economy and/or Social Justice.
Applicants who bring a feminist perspective to their work in these
areas are particularly welcome. Secondary research and teaching
competence in any of the following areas is also an asset:
criminology, sociology of education, and qualitative methods. The
successful applicant will be expected to develop a program of research
leading to significant peer-reviewed publications, and to do graduate
and undergraduate teaching. Preferred candidates will have completed a
doctorate in sociology or a cognate social science discipline, and
show potential for excellence in teaching and research.
Applicants are requested to forward: a letter of application, stating
research and teaching interests; a current curriculum vitae; evidence
of teaching ability; examples of publication. Applicants should also
arrange for three letters of reference to be forwarded to the
Department by February 4, 2008, when we will begin to review
applications.
