The Media Studies Department at the University of Virginia seeks to hire
a tenure track assistant professor beginning August 25, 2008.  The
successful candidate must have a PhD in hand by appointment date of
August 25, 2008, significant teaching experience with undergraduate
students, and excellent research promise in the interdisciplinary field
of media studies.  We seek candidates who will generate innovative and
interdisciplinary scholarship in global or comparative media.
Specializations might include:  critical and historical studies of
journalism; media policy; film; broadcasting; industries and
institutions; ethnicity; or gender.  Another area of interest to the
Department is critical or historical studies in journalism.  All
