Media Studies: Two tenure-track positions in Electronic Media.  
Communication/ Electronic Media: The Broadcast and Electronic  
Communication Arts Department at San Francisco State University  
invites applications for two positions, both full-time, tenure-track,  
available Fall 2008. Associate/Assistant Professor in Electronic  
Media Business. Duties: Teach undergraduate and graduate classes in  
the business aspects of electronic media. The department is open to a  
variety of specializations, including management and operation of  
traditional, new, or alternative media organizations, political  
economy of electronic media, media sales, marketing, advertising,  
programming, and/or analysis of media industry organization and  
structure. Successful candidates should also be able to teach  
Introduction to Electronic Communication, a survey of electronic  
media institutions. Qualifications: Preferred, Ph.D. in  
Communication, Business, or closely related discipline by August 1,  
2008. University-level teaching experience essential. Will consider  
other advanced degree with significant professional electronic media  
experience. Assistant Professor in Electronic Media Theory and  
Research. Duties: Primary responsibility for teaching undergraduate  
and graduate courses in media theory and effects, social aspects of  
the electronic media, media research methods, and introduction to  
electronic communication. Successful candidates for this position  
should also be able to teach in one or more of the following areas:  
media literacy, interactive media, and electronic media and social  
justice. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Communication or closely related  
discipline by August 1, 2008. University-level teaching experience  
preferred. Knowledge of major theoretical approaches to the study of  
mass communication, television and other electronic media is  
essential. Faculty members in the Broadcast and Electronic  
Communication Arts Department are expected to develop a meaningful  
research or creative work agenda relevant to their teaching  
assignment and to demonstrate scholarly or creative accomplishments  
as a condition of tenure and promotion. Application deadline: Review

position filled. Salary levels for faculty in the Broadcast and  
Electronic Communication Arts Department are nationally competitive.
