Director for Research and Instructional Support

Mount Holyoke College invites applicants for the position of Director  
for Research and Instructional Support (RIS). This position reports  
to the CIO and Director of Library, Information, & Technology  
Services (LITS) and works closely with the deans and academic  
administration. The Director is a key member of the LITS leadership  
and management teams, providing vision and leadership in the  
development and delivery of strategic educational resources.
The Director of Research and Instructional Support is responsible for  
managing and supporting a team of librarians and educational  
technologists who provide reference service as well as research and  
educational technology consultation and instruction to the members of  
the Mount Holyoke College community. RIS serves as a focal point for  
the examination and discussion of pedagogy, scholarly communication,  
information literacy and the effective use of technology in teaching  
and learning.

The Director provides leadership, direction, and planning to the RIS  
team as they work with faculty and students through a highly  
effective liaison program, support service points, individual  
consultations, group instruction, and special programming. The  
Director will work with RIS staff and others to devise effective  
methods to build community awareness of the wide range of  
technologies and information resources that are available to them at  
the College and facilitate collaborations on their successful use.
The idea candidate will:
• Have an appropriate degree in Librarianship, Educational technology  
or other related field at the masters level or above.
• Have an in-depth knowledge of current issues, pedagogical &  
research methods, and innovations in libraries and higher education
• Have experience working in a library setting
• Have a record of success in the application of technology in  
support of teaching, learning and research; and an underlying  
understanding of the appropriate use of technology as a pedagogical tool
• Demonstrate the ability to lead and collaborate with a diverse  
group of faculty, students, and administrators
