Basic Purpose & Scope 	Research, analysis and testing of latest  
developments and products in instructional and research technology  
for implementation at the University. Experimenting with new emerging  
technologies to determine both barriers and opportunities presented  
by these technologies in relation to improving the teaching,  
research, and service missions of the University.
Responsibilities 	1. Investigate emerging information technologies  
using various methods; analyze trends and products to determine ways  
these emerging technologies could be integrated into higher  
education. This includes the acquisition and evaluation of cutting  
edge technologies that are central to the interests of stakeholders  
of the University that would enhance the teaching, research and  
service mission of the University.

2. Coordinate research computing activities including high  
performance computing, visualization facilities, Internet 2  
applications, etc.

3. Make written and verbal reports to the campus and wider academic  
community on new emerging technologies. Develop demonstrations and  
lectures for faculty, staff, students, and external constituencies of  
Indiana State University as well as preparing presentations and  
reports on findings for OIT management and faculty governance.

4. Advise other campus departments and the Office of Information  
Technology on deployment of new technologies, including designing and  
planning technology in classroom environments, through advisory  
committee membership, ongoing communication, and technical assistance.

5. Suggest areas of study for grant proposal development and  
contributes to grant proposal preparation and may serve as principal  
investigator on certain grant-funded projects pertaining to emerging  
technologies.

6. Administer the prototyping and research network servers for the unit.

7. Assist in the development of multimedia materials for the unit's  
website and other purposes related to emerging technologies being  
testing and/or demonstrated.

8. Perform other related duties as required.
Required Education 	Master's degree in educational technology,  
computer science, management information systems, engineering, or  
equivalent discipline.
Required Skills 	Strong technical aptitude and desire to keep up with  
the latest in technology. Ability to think analytically and  
critically. Strong interpersonal, organizational, planning, and  
problem solving skills. Strong written and oral communication skills  
are mandatory. Ability to "translate" between technical resources and  
non-technical staff for group and interpersonal communications.  
Advanced office software productivity skills, including database  
creation. Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities  
successfully.
Required Experience 	Two years full-time work in an information  
technology environment utilizing and/or investigating emerging  
technologies.

Preferred Education 	
Preferred Skills 	Demonstrated initiative and creativity. Exceptional  
work ethic and interpersonal and team communication skills.  
Experience working in a higher education environment. Ability to  
maintain confidentiality of projects. Self-motivated and self-directed.
