Occidental College, a highly selective liberal arts college located  
in Eagle Rock, CA, and 10 minutes away from downtown Los Angeles,  
seeks a Manager of Academic Technology. The Manager of Academic  
Technology provides a vision for the campus use of technology applied  
to all areas of academic work, develops plans to provide technology  
support, and coordinates work with other ITS and campus offices. She/ 
he will implement programs and services that encourage the use of  
technology in instruction, learning, content creation, research and  
co-curricular student life. The ideal candidate will be a strong  
facilitator able to follow initiatives through to completion and have  
a demonstrated passion for using technology in effectively assisting  
the organization to meet its educational objectives.

Responsibilities include:

The Manager of Academic Technology works collaboratively with the  
CIO, Director of User Support Services and with technical staff,  
librarians, Dean of the College and department chairs to facilitate  
the use of digital technologies and to coordinate academic technology  
support efforts across the campus. Primarily responsible for the  
planning, design, and delivery of academic technology services to  
assist faculty and students in their use of technologies. Develops  
the existing services into a cohesive and effective unit to serve all  
academic units with technology solutions in support of their academic  
programs. These services range from short one-on-one consulting to  
more extensive project support in the creation of courseware as well  
as the use of instructional tools and media. This includes management  
and support of LMS platforms, coordinating, managing and tracking  
Academic Technology projects, developing and supporting initiatives,  
managing the AT resources, and ensuring sustained, consistent and  
strong services to the campus.

Qualifications:

A Master's degree and at least three years of successful experience  
in IT with an emphasis on learning technologies (or equivalent  
knowledge and experience) are required. Classroom teaching and/or  
training experience is preferred. Three to five years experience  
working with instructional technologies and managing staff, students  
and technology resources. Demonstrated collaborative, supportive  
leadership style that inspires creativity and learning, as well as  
the highest quality work.

Experience integrating technology in teaching and learning  
environments, and research activities in higher education, managing  
technology projects, multimedia development, Web development and  
graphic design. Experience administering and training faculty and  
staff in Blackboard, WebCT and/or other Learning Management Systems  
(LMS). Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated  
ability to work collaboratively, work as a team and to develop  
positive interactions among all members of a rich and diverse campus.  
Excellent organizational and customer service skills.
