Manager, Academic Technologies
The University of Notre Dame (www.nd.edu), one of the nation's top 20
institutions of higher learning, is accepting applications for the
Manager of Academic Technologies opportunity within the Office of
Information Technologies (http://oit.nd.edu/). The Academic
Technology team develops and delivers strategies for innovative
educational technologies and services that enable faculty and
graduate students to extend their instructional impact in and outside
the classroom.
The Manager will be responsible for working with the appropriate
individuals across campus to develop and sustain a framework and
strategy that supports the institutional approach to academic and
instructional technologies.
This position manages a team of technologists that researches
emerging technologies while supporting, advising and assisting
faculty in the effective use of innovative instructional
technologies. The Manager may manage project teams and participate as
a contributing member of other teams that deploy technology solutions
that support the teaching, learning and research missions of the
University.
The team works closely with other units on campus in the
identification, research, and integration of IT services, such as
courseware, teacher course evaluations, podcasting, etc. The Manager
of the Academic Technologies team ensures that pilot projects with
faculty are integrated into the infrastructure as appropriate and
works closely with the Manager and staff of the Classroom & Cluster
Services group on technology solutions in learning spaces.
The Manager may serve on both academic and administrative technology
committees to represent instructional needs across the Academy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Advanced degree strongly required; Terminal degree preferred (PhD,
or EdD). Must possess more than 7 years experience leading IT
professionals and/or providing consultative educational technology
services, preferably in higher education.
- Excellent project management skills, ability to set and fulfill
priorities. Independence and time management capabilities required.
- Ability to be a self starter who sets goals for themselves and
members of the team. Develops strategies for meeting the goals, and
achieves them with minimal oversight. Resolves departmental
operational issues and concerns.
- Thorough knowledge of current pedagogical research and practices.
Thorough knowledge of current and emerging instructional technologies.
- Must be able to develop strong relationships with faculty, staff
and students at all levels across the institution. Demonstrates
competent written and verbal communication skills. Communicates
effectively with both junior and senior employees inside and outside
own department and able to communicate sensitive topics with skill.
Preferred Qualifications:
Classroom teaching experience and skills; expertise in developing
courses and an understanding of the faculty experience, preferably in
a higher education environment.
