HAMLINE UNIVERSITY
Director of the Center for Academic Technology

Hamline University is seeking a director for a newly established  
Center for Academic Technology (CAT).

In collaboration with the Vice President for Academic and Student  
Affairs, the ATC, and Information Technology Services (ITS), the  
Director will develop a vision for academic technology across the  
campus, developing a methodic approach for the provision of services,  
maximizing the use of resources.

Mission:
The Center for Academic Technology (CAT) exists to support the  
university community through leadership and delivery of services that  
facilitate and enhance teaching and learning through technology.  
Services include training and support as it relates to teaching,  
learning, and research, and guidance on such issues as assessment of  
technology needs, including needs for distance learning, and  
recommendation and adoption of new technology. The Center will also  
draft and implement policies and procedures relative to the use and  
adoption of academic technology.

The Director, in collaboration with faculty and staff, will:
establish and maintain a physical Center for Academic Technology with  
appropriate equipment and staffing for training, support, and  
development;
facilitate technologically enhanced teaching and learning across the  
University;
advance the mission of the Center by providing training to faculty to  
incorporate academic technology into their teaching, including  
distance learning;
engage in communication across the campus on the use of academic  
technology;
work with faculty, staff, and the Academic Technology Committee (ATC)  
in developing University policies relevant to the use of academic  
technology.

The Director will also:
assess needs, identify available resources, and assist with acquiring  
resources for enhancing teaching and learning through the use of  
instructional technologies;
seek external funding for CAT's activities and facilitate and advise  
others on grant proposals regarding academic technology;
develop, in collaboration with the Vice President for Academic and  
Student Affairs, and the ATC, proposed annual budgets for the Center;  
meet regularly with the ATC; and attend and present at conferences.

12 month position

Reporting Relationships: Reports to the Vice President for Academic  
and Student Affairs, works closely with the Academic Technology  
Committee and Information Technology Services.

Experience Requirements
Minimum of a Master's degree. Education in instructional design  
preferred.

Broad knowledge of and experience with educational technology,  
including experience at an institution of higher learning.

Teaching experience using academic technology is desirable.
