Beginning Fall Semester, 2008
The Department of Communication at Boise State University seeks an
Assistant Professor in Media Studies. The department is committed to
the balanced integration of theory and practice in the teaching,
professional, and community activities of its faculty. Applicants for
this position must be able to teach courses in media practice in one
or more of the following: media production; web site design and
development; Internet broadcasting; information gathering; broadcast
and/or new media journalism. Applicants must also be prepared to
teach courses in media theory, analysis, and criticism in their areas
of interest and specialization. In addition to fulfilling his/her
teaching duties, the successful candidate will be expected to engage
in scholarly research and publication.
The department has eighteen full-time faculty and enrolls more than
650 undergraduate majors and 30 graduate students annually. In our
research and teaching we are strongly committed to providing students
with a broad-based education in the complex processes of interaction
and meaning-making. We are unified by an allegiance to social/
cultural and humanistic approaches to the study of human

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a completed Ph.D. in
Communication or a related discipline by August 22, 2008. Applicants
must also demonstrate excellence or the potential for excellence in
teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level and in scholarly
research.
RANK: Tenure Track. Assistant Professor.

The campus, with the largest enrollment of Idaho's colleges and

from downtown. The Department of Communication is housed within Boise
State's College of Social Sciences and Public Affairs.
