Assistant Professor Media Studies
Full-Time, Tenure Track

The department of communication studies at the University of San  
Diego invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor  
position in media studies beginning in Fall 2008. The University of  
San Diego is an independent, Catholic institution grounded in a  
liberal arts tradition. Our department embraces diversity and seeks  
candidates who will complement the strengths of our faculty.

We seek candidates with an appreciation for diverse research  
methodologies and with general expertise in media studies whose areas  
of scholarly and pedagogical competency might include one or more of  
the following areas: media messages and their influence, audience  
reception, media and civic engagement, media convergence, and applied  
media research. Primary teaching responsibilities include  
introduction to media studies, media processes and effects, other  
media-related courses, as well as courses in the candidate's area of

The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to and  
evidence of teaching excellence, an active research agenda, and a  
dedication to creating an inclusive classroom, department, and campus  
community. Ph.D. required at time of appointment.
