The Dean of the Virtual Campus is responsible for providing  
leadership and direction in the planning, development,  
implementation, management and support of distance and off-campus  
programs and scheduling with an emphasis on online learning for both  
credit and non-credit courses. The Dean also provides leadership and  
oversight for web-formatting, instructional design, production and  
delivery, and quality control of credit and non-credit learning  
delivery in online formats. The oversight extends to varied terms for  
traditional synchronous delivery, e.g., summer sessions, "speed  
track," inter-session, etc. Areas of accountability include  
consolidating the departmental distance course offerings into a  
comprehensive schedule of classes for special terms in fall, spring  
and summer that includes a comprehensive distance learning program;  
operating and maintaining appropriate technologies for development  
and delivery of courses and services; evaluating distance learning  
activities; and coordinating college distance learning activities  
with those of other college function areas, other institutions and  
organizations. Provides direct supervision of the Director of  
Learning Technologies, the faculty team leader in the Academy for  
Excellence in online teaching, the distance learning research and  
development team, and shares responsibility with other deans for  
hiring, supervising and evaluating current and new full and part-time  
faculty. This position also supervises staff performing "special  
sessions" learning functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master's degree or higher in instructional technology, distance  
education or higher education leadership or a directly related field,  
or in an academic field with the required experience level as listed  
below. Post Master's credentialing preferred.

Five years professional distance learning experience in a post  
secondary institution, three years that must have been in a  
supervisory capacity.

Must have demonstrated abilities for program planning and management,  
systems development, and budget management.

Excellent leadership, oral and written communication skills.

Online teaching experience is very desirable.
