Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in International Political  
Theory

Founded in 1911, The University of Hong Kong is committed to the  
highest international standards of excellence in teaching and

University's performance, one is its ranking at 33 among the top 200

As the University approaches its 100th anniversary, a major human  
resource expansion plan has been launched to provide 200 new academic  
positions.  The purpose of this Centenary Recruitment Plan is to  
enhance our research competitiveness and to facilitate the  
introduction and delivery of a new four-year undergraduate curriculum  
from 2012.

Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the Department of Politics  
and Public Administration

Applications are invited for tenurable appointments as Associate  
Professor/Assistant Professor in International Political Theory  
(Ref.: RF-2006/2007-336) in the Department of Politics and Public  
Administration, from September 1, 2007 or as soon as possible  
thereafter.  The appointment will initially be made on a three-year  
fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.  Appointee who has  
demonstrated performance will be considered for tenure during the  
second three-year contract.

The Department of Politics and Public Administration was founded in  
1970.  Its undergraduate programme focuses on public policy and  
administration, comparative politics, international relations and  
political theory.  The Department also offers 2 highly successful  
taught postgraduate programmes - Master of Public Administration  
(MPA) and Master in International and Public Affairs (MIPA).

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree and a strong record of  
research and teaching.  Preference will be given to those with  
teaching and research competence in the field of contemporary  
political theory/political philosophy, with expertise in  
international political theory.

Annual salaries will be in the following ranges (subject to review  
from time to time at the entire discretion of the University):

Associate Professor : HK$593,100 - 917,220

Assistant Professor : HK$451,980 - 698,520

(approximately US$1 = HK$7.8)

The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University  
contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of  
basic salary, as well as leave, and medical/dental benefits.  Housing  
benefits will be provided as applicable.  At current rates, salaries  
tax does not exceed 16% of gross income.
