Twelve-month administrative faculty position. Organize, administer  
and supervise the college-wide distance-learning (mainly web and  
telecourses) program including the supervision of instructional  
designers, support staff and teaching faculty.

Provide leadership for the development and application of distance  
learning systems and services that expand student success to quality,  
creative and innovative academic and training opportunities.

Work with Academic Deans in developing future courses and programs.  
Cultivate, encourage and guide administrators and faculty in the  
design, coordination and development of distance learning courses.  
Work with instructional departments to ensure that distance-learning  
courses meet Virginia Community College System and accrediting agency  
quality assurance standards. Assess and assist with providing for  
faculty development needs. Develop and administer ELI's budget.  
Ensure that the College provides appropriate academic, institutional,  
and student support for distance learners.

Required: Master's degree in Instructional System Design or related  
field required with a minimum of 5 years experience in distance  
education. Alternate degree may be considered if accompanied by  
strong academic training in instructional design. Experience managing  
an asynchronous distance education program, ability to lead in a  
collaborative team environment, working knowledge of instructional  
systems and other advanced educational technologies. Excellent verbal  
and written communication skills. Community college and/or higher  
education management experience. Desired: Doctorate degree. Classroom  
teaching experience. Working knowledge of current trends in distance  
learning and skills in a variety of distance learning technologies.  
Experience designing or supporting web-based instruction.
