The Social Sciences Program at Keene State College seeks candidates
for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin August 2007.
Primary responsibilities for this position include teaching Secondary
Social Studies Methods and the senior capstone Social Science course
as well as supervising Secondary Social Studies student teachers.
Other responsibilities include advising students, actively providing
service to the community, and pursuing an active research agenda. The
successful candidate will work closely with the Social Science
Steering Committee, and the Secondary Education Committee. Applicants
should have a strong commitment to the interdisciplinary nature of
the Social Sciences as well as a commitment to excellence in
Secondary Social Studies education.
The Social Science major at Keene State College draws from the
disciplines of Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, Political
Science, Psychology, and Sociology. This major provides an
integrated, broad base of several liberal arts and sciences and is
overseen by the Social Science Steering Committee made up of persons
from across the disciplines. Many Social Science majors pursue K-12
teaching certification.
Keene State College values excellent teaching and is particularly
seeking teachers who will contribute to the college’s new General
Education program, “Integrative Studies”. You can learn more about

Qualifications Required: The successful candidate will have an earned
doctorate by August, 2007 in one of the Social Science disciplines or
Social Science Education and full-time public school teaching
experience (grades 6-12). Preferred: Additional expertise and
experience in a second discipline within the major, evidence of
scholarship and professional activities, experience in undergraduate
teaching. Salary at the rank of Assistant Professor will be $53,040,
based on Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement.
