Faculty for Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences Doctoral Program:  
Public Policy



Union Institute & University, a national university for adult  
learners offering programs of study leading to Bachelor's, Master's,  
and Doctoral degrees, is seeking a full time Faculty member in the  
area of Public Policy for the Graduate College's Interdisciplinary  
Arts & Sciences doctoral program. The Faculty member will teach  
doctoral learners in public policy areas promoting interdisciplinary  
learning and research with emphasis on ethics and justice. She or he  
will serve on doctoral committees to promote and support scholarship  
of individual learners, provide on-site seminars, workshops and in- 
person learning events, and maintain ongoing research and publication  
within her/his own area of intellectual interest.
Qualifications:
The candidate will have a Ph.D. or terminal graduate degree with  
demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship, research  
and teaching. Must demonstrate evidence of prior and ongoing  
achievement in one or more fields of scholarship and ability to  
combine interdisciplinary study with attention to ethics and social  
justice in teaching and learning. Engagement with and willingness to  
adapt to multi-modal learning environments are required and  
experience with teaching adult learners is preferred. Training and  
interest in teaching research methods are preferred.
Teaching and Professional Responsibilities:
·Teaching responsibilities in consultation with the Graduate Dean and/ 
or Associate Dean
·Chairing or serving on Learner Doctoral Committees
·Contributing to University and Graduate College governance and  
representing UI&U in professional organizations and the community at  
large
·Assuring and maintaining professional/academic engagement with  
Learners through in-person, written, oral and/or electronic  
communications
Continuing Professional/Scholarly Growth and Service:
·Evidence of continuing growth within public policy related to issues  
of leadership and organization, social and cultural diversity, and/or  
to a substantive policy area (especially, social welfare, education,  
health care, technology and security).
·Preferred research in one or more of the following: policy and  
social change; policy and social justice; policy, identity and  
culture; innovative approaches to policy; policy and leadership; and  
alternative strategies to policy implementation.
·Participation in professional scholarly organizations, advocacy  
groups, or organizations reasonably related to field of scholarship  
and doctoral program goals.
