Description:
Change.org is a new social network for social activism that launched
this month. (We?re sort of like a MySpace for the nonprofit sector.)

We are currently looking to hire someone with the ability and
ambition to take on role that combines everything from online
organizing and activism to marketing and communications.

For anyone who is looking for a job with significant responsibility,
excited about the thrill of working at a start-up, and convinced that
Web 2.0 tools have the power to transform the way people engage in
social issues, this might be just what you?ve been looking for.

The position, which we?re giving the broad title ?Community Manager,?
includes the following responsibilities:

? Nonprofit Relationship Management ? maintaining relations with the
many nonprofits on the site and helping them build their communities.
Among the more than 100 organizations that have recently signed up
are organizations like Amnesty International, Greenpeace, Oxfam
America, Ashoka, CARE, The Humane Society, The Nature Conservancy, etc.

? Grassroots Marketing/Organizing ? spreading the word about
Change.org beyond these large nonprofits and into smaller progressive
organizations as well as groups of activists, students, and people
across the world who are passionate about social change.

? Online Activism ? helping to develop ideas for additional features
to help us realize our goal of being the central online platform for
connecting people who care about the same issues and empowering them
to collectively advance change.

? Communications ? contacting, responding to, and generally managing
our relations with the press.

There are no formal job requirements and you certainly don?t need to
have experience in each of these areas; we welcome applicants with
backgrounds in grassroots organizing, nonprofit sales, online
activism, communications, or any other related field. We also don?t
require any particular level of experience; we welcome applications
from everyone from recent college grads to seasoned professionals.

The position can be done from anywhere in the US. Our team is located
in different parts of the globe, so we?re currently all working
remotely. We will be getting an office in San Francisco and
Washington, DC in the near future, but either way, we care more about
your passion and capabilities than your location.
