The School of Communication's Center for Social Media is seeking an
Associate Director. The Associate Director manages the day-to-day
programs of the Center for Social Media, helps the Executive Director
design and fundraise for future programs and under the general
direction of the Executive Director supervises staff members and
consultants executing the programs. This position has responsibility
for integrating the different projects of the Center and executing
the activities of each. It also carries responsibility for assisting
the Executive Director in shaping the emerging agenda and maintenance
of the mission of the Center so background in public media issues is
necessary. The Associate Director is expected to supervise the office
and personnel reporting to that position on a day-to-day basis. The
Associate Director will need high-level management skills, for
instance those of a director of a nonprofit organization or an
executive producer in media production.
Qualified candidates should preferably have a M.A. in a relevant
field and high level experience managing projects for and/or with non-
profit organizations, with fundraising background. Knowledge of
public media issues and/or production experience essential. At least
3 years of supervisory experience. Ability to strategically and
creatively think/write/present about social media issues. Salary
$60-80K, commiserate with experience.
