Technical Manager

The Eyebeam Technical Manager is a senior position in the Technical  
and Production Team at Eyebeam. S/he oversees the Audio Visual  
Technical requirements of the three Labs operated by Eyebeam, ensures  
that the technical needs of all Eyebeam Fellows and Residents are met  
to the best of our ability, oversees technology installation  
requirements for all exhibitions, public programs and special events  
and ensures that equipment in the 3 is well maintained.

This post is for a creative individual, well versed in technological  
requirements of producing new media art and creative technology  
related projects. S/he has experience managing and maintaining a  
broad range of event audio/video presentation equipment, broadcast  
post-production equipment, and computers and related technology. S/he  
ensures that the technical requirements of all artists/ technologists  
working at Eyebeam are met.

Reporting to the Director of Technology the responsibilities include  
the requisition, service and maintenance of all digital and  
electronic equipment for production and presentation at Eyebeam:

Responsibilities
Maintain and implement the technology needs across the organization  
including Lab environments, administrative offices, and exhibition  
and presentation spaces.

Develop and Maintain:
- Video post-production systems, including: Mac and PC-based editing  
and compositing hardware and software; Audio.Video routing systems;  
Video rack equipment including video decks, monitors, sync &  
reference generators, patch panels.
- Exhibition and event presentation technology, including: Video  
projectors, live sound amplification and monitoring, DVD and computer  
based video playback systems, multi-channel audio setups for new  
media art in a gallery setting.
- Digital media communication and distribution technologies including  
audio and video streaming, video conferencing, and download  
(podcasting, etc.)

Work with the Director of Technology as needed with:
- Service, support and maintenance of desktop systems and network  
infrastructure across the organization including labs, offices, and  
classroom.
- Assess the viability of new technologies and make recommendations  
for purchase and implementation to the Director of Technology.
- Preparing annual budgets;
- Participate in annual planning and contribute to operational plans  
for the organization;
- Work with organizational and programming committees;
- Other duties as required.

Qualifications
- Academic qualification in a field related to the position (e.g. IT,  
New Media, Art and Technology, Broadcast Technology) or equivalent  
combination of education and work experience;
- Proven practical experience in the management of technology for art  
and creative research related projects;
- Experience working with artists, technologists and volunteers;
- Experience working independently and as an effective team member;
- Highly motivated, creative, flexible and innovative thinker;
- Willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends;
- Experience in project management;
- Excellent multi-tasking skills, highly organized;
- Strong IT administration and video post production skills.
