SUMMARY:
The Media Cloisters Manager works with members of the faculty, the  
library, and the IT staff to plan for and provide support for the  
academic computing needs of the college, with specific responsibility  
for managing the facility. The Media Cloisters is a center dedicated  
to promoting and supporting the use of leading-edge multimedia  
materials and tools for learning, teaching, and research. It is a  
gathering place for students, professors, librarians, IT  
professionals and others engaged in planning, evaluating, and  
reviewing the efforts of research and study utilizing the whole range  
of technologies of literacy. This position reports to the Director of  
Academic Computing Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain and share expertise in emerging multimedia development  
technologies and manage the Media Cloisters facility. Supervise  
student employees who provide user support and implement faculty  
projects. Work with faculty and administrative colleagues to plan for  
educational events. Coordinate efforts with desktop computing  
specialists to maintain the center's hardware and software resources.  
Maintain professional contacts and keep up to date through  
professional development activities such as attending conferences,  
participating in online communities, and producing reports and  
papers. Develop and maintain broad familiarity with the computing  
tools and resources appropriate for higher education and a keen  
interest in emerging technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree in a liberal arts discipline is required; an  
advanced degree in an appropriate discipline is preferred. Extensive  
experience with multimedia production software and associated  
hardware is required, as is a demonstrated ability to manage projects  
effectively in a teamwork environment. Excellent technical skills are  
essential, including a thorough knowledge of a variety of desktop  
hardware, operating systems, and multimedia tools and the ability to  
design and execute complex web sites, including those using content  
management systems. Extensive experience with multimedia production  
software and associate hardware is required. Strong oral and written  
communications skills are required. Requires the ability to manage  
long term projects and multiple, competing priorities within  
established time constraints. Must have demonstrated ability to work  
independently and as part of a larger team.
