Job Description
Wesleyan University is forming an Academic Media Studio which will
provide a wide-array of design and production services for the
Wesleyan community, including imaging, audio and video production,
multimedia and learning object design and development, and project
management services. This position is part of Wesleyan's award-
winning Information Technology Services department, and reports to
the Director of Academic Computing Services & Digital Library Projects.
As the leader of a four person team, and in close collaboration with
other campus partners, the manager will: Develop and implement
effective project management methodologies. Develop and implement
standards for sustainable media production. Work with Wesleyan
faculty, librarians, and staff to develop grant proposals for both
educational media and born-digital scholarship. Participate in hands-
on production work as a member of the development team. Manage the
studio's budget. Oversee and implement evaluation efforts. Manage a
staff of three full-time employees, and overall supervision of a
small student production staff. Develop effective and highly
collaborative partnerships with the other units with Information
Technology Services, as well as the library, Wesleyan University
Press, and other academic departments on campus. Organize training
and support of course assistants implementing curricular technology.
Play an active role in regional and national professional organizations.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and previous experience
managing employees. Proven familiarity with modern media development
standards and methodologies. Demonstrated expertise in at least one
of the following areas: digital audio, digital video, graphic and web
design, 2D animation, database-driven web application development,
xml. Proven familiarity with media management, content management, or
institutional repository systems. Excellent written and oral
communication as well as project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Five years of project management
experience. Five years experience supervising a professional staff.
An advanced degree in a related field. Familiarity with a university
work environment. Previous grant writing experience.
