Auburn University seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in New
Media to begin August 16, 2008. The successful candidate will be able
to teach coursework in visual communication across three majors
(Radio/Television/Film, Public Relations, and Journalism), as well as
conduct scholarly research in Communication or Journalism. The
candidate selected for this position must meet the eligibility
requirements for working in the United States at the time appointment
is scheduled to begin and be able to communicate effectively in
English. Teaching load is negotiable.

Minimum Qualifications: M.F.A. in relevant area or doctorate in
Communication, Mass Communication, Journalism, or Public Relations.
A.B.D. considered with completion of degree by August 16, 2008.
Evidence of excellent teaching is required. Applicants should have
demonstrated professional or practical experience in interactivity
and web design.

The search committee will begin reviewing applications January 8,
2008, and will continue until the position is filled.
The Department of Communication and Journalism comprises more than
700 undergraduate students and a master's program and is the largest
department in Auburn University's College of Liberal Arts. Students
have the option of gaining professional experience from an all-
digital student radio station, an award-winning student newspaper,
and a student-run broadcast news operation that has developed into
one of the best in the region. The department offers a master's
degree in communication.
Auburn is located in the East Central portion of Alabama between
Montgomery, AL, and Atlanta. Auburn is within easy access of a large
variety of cultural and historical sites, activities, and events. The
university itself is located on a lovely campus and is the largest in
Alabama with an enrollment of more than 23,500 students.
