The Center for Information and Communication Sciences (CICS) is a  
dedicated graduate center of Ball State University's College of  
Communication, Information, and Media, one of the largest and most  
technologically advanced communication colleges in the United States.  
The Center is an intense, interdisciplinary graduate program that  
combines theory and practical learning in information and  
communication sciences. CICS educates 60 to 90 candidates per year  
and conducts research in the selection, design, development, and  
management of information gathering, processing, storage and  
dissemination systems using the latest technologies.

Twelve-month tenure-track position available September 1, 2007. Major  
responsibilities: direct the degree program in Information and  
Communication Sciences, including recruitment, assistantships, and  
other degree related activities; maintain and act as principal  
liaison with the off-campus advisory board; generate outside grant  
proposals that support the Center's activities and solicit gifts that  
support those activities; supervise the activities of the Institute  
for Applied Research in Information and Communication Sciences; teach  
courses in the major; maintain responsibility for all matters  
relating to planning, appointment, evaluation, salary distribution,  
promotion and tenure of faculty members within the guidelines adopted  
by the department, college, and university. Minimum qualifications:  
master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education;  
combination of post-master's education, media experience, knowledge  
of technology applications, knowledge of information and  
communications science technology, connections with external funding  
sources, demonstrated ability to communicate, higher education  
experience, administrative experience that will enable the individual  
to provide leadership and vision for the diverse activities of the  
Center. Preferred qualification: Ph.D.
