Job description: Indiana University's (IU) School of Library and
Information Science (SLIS) at Bloomington invites applications for a
position as Assistant/Associate Professor. Successful candidates will
hold a doctoral degree from a major research university. Applicants
with strong research and teaching interests in both the technical and
social aspects of information and communication technologies will be
considered. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of
more than one of the following: cognitive science, human-computer
interaction, information technology, social informatics.
The school's research agenda encompasses social and cognitive
analyses of interactions among people, organizations, technologies
and information. In recent years, SLIS has secured millions of
dollars to support research in information retrieval, bibliometrics,
database development, information visualization, and ambient
computing. SLIS has an interdisciplinary faculty. In addition to the
Master of Library Science (MLS) degree, the school offers the Master
of Information Science (MIS), a Ph.D. in Information Science, and a
post-master's specialization in Library and Information Science.
