Parsons The New School for Design, one of the largest schools of  
design in North America, is seeking applicants, pending budget  
approval, for an assistant/associate professor of Interaction and  
Game Design in the Design and Technology undergraduate (BFA) and  
graduate (MFA) programs.

Opportunity
The Design and Technology programs at Parsons have a unique  
combination of undergraduate and graduate students studying game  
design and the design of interactive experiences and platforms. This  
is an excellent opportunity for those interested in exploring the  
future of media and communication design in an academic environment  
that encourages open collaboration, bold experimentation and  
intellectual entrepreneurship.

The Assistant/Associate professor of Interaction and Game Design will  
play an essential role in shaping and teaching in a new and popular  
curricular sequence in game design offered at both the undergraduate  
and graduate level. In addition to opportunities within and between  
these programs, collaboration with other departments at Parsons and  
university-wide is encouraged. Our faculty are currently engaged in  
research and teaching with faculty in Anthropology, Psychology,  
Sociology, Cultural Studies, Business, International Affairs, and  
Media Studies. In addition, university research centers such the  
Parsons Institute for Information Mapping (PIIM) provide a cutting  
edge space for faculty and student research and industry partnerships.

Requirements
The successful appointee will have:
- A demonstrated record of experience in game design or interaction  
design through projects and/or research
- A PhD or MFA in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent  
professional standing;
- Teaching experience with a demonstrated interest in curricular  
development
- Demonstrate knowledge of, and research interest in interaction- 
design, game design, animation and motion graphics, mobile media,  
user-centered design and the social implications of technology;
- An active engagement with the game design and/or interaction design  
industry and the critical and theoretical implications of the field.

Start date. July 1, 2007.
