Communication/Converging Media: Assistant Professor in Converging  
Media. The Department of Communication at the University of Utah  
seeks qualified applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor  
position with emphasis in converging media, effective July 1, 2006.  
The qualified applicant will have a completed, or nearly completed,  
Ph.D. in mass communication or closely related field and be able to  
demonstrate potential excellence in teaching, research and/or  
creative scholarship with an integrated view of the following areas:  
new media theory, criticism, and design (as related to film,  
television, animation, Web design, interactive media and  
scriptwriting, mobile technologies, and videogames); and new  
communication technology law and policy, history, or political  
economy. The qualified candidate will be able to teach theoretical  
and design courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels  
emphasizing the social, cultural, historical, and creative aspects of  
converging media. Direction of graduate students is required.  
Candidates must be fluent in the Adobe and Macromedia suites in  
communication contexts. The University of Utah recognizes that a
