Clemson University. The Department of Sociology invites applications
for three tenure-track positions at the Assistant and/or Associate
Professor level to begin August 15, 2006. Clemson University
www.clemson.edu is a state, land grant institution with 17,000
students located near the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The
Department of Sociology has a tradition of teaching excellence,
outstanding scholarship and a collegial atmosphere. We offer a
Master's Degree in Applied Sociology. The successful candidate will
have a PhD in sociology or a related field. A strong quantitative
background and the potential for excellence in both research and
teaching are required. We particularly encourage individuals with
substantive interests in family, globalization, race and ethnicity,
religion, or leisure/mass media/culture. However, applicants in all
areas will be considered. We particularly encourage applications from
individuals with interests that align with Clemson's university-wide
emphasis areas: (1) Leadership and Entrepreneurship, (2) Automotive
and Transportation Technology, (3) Information and Communication
Technology, (4) General Education, including Science-Technology-
Society, (5) Family and Community Living, (6) Biotechnology and
Biomedical Sciences, (7) Advanced Materials and (8) Sustainable
Environment. A record of, or potential for, extramural research
funding is also preferred. To apply, send a cover letter, including a
brief statement of one's research agenda and teaching philosophy, at
least one writing sample, and a Curriculum Vitae that includes the
